Boy with Thorn, bronze. In Italian called Spinario. Replica of a famous Greco-Roman
Hellenistic bronze sculpture. The sculpture depicts a boy pulling a thorn from the sole of his foot. Boy with Thorn is today part of the collections of the Capitoline Museums in Rome. The sculpture was one of very few Roman bronzes that never disappeared from the fall of the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages. During the early Renaissance, it gained fame by being one of the first Roman sculptures to be copied.
