Rosa ’A Shropshire Lad’ is a fantastic versatile rose, which may be grown as a large shrub or a short climbing rose if given support. It bears large rosettes of many-petalled flowers in soft, peach-pink. Blooms have a gentle, fruity fragrance reminiscent of old tea roses.
The foliage is a glossy dark green. The stems are almost thornless and are therefore easy to tie in to supports.
Grow Rosa ’A Shropshire Lad’ at the back of the border as a shrub, or tie it to a sturdy support to train as a climber. Deadhead blooms regularly to prolong flowering, and mulch in autumn with well-rotted manure or garden compost.
